Gone Fishin' was my Slack status message when I signed off from the office for the weekend. It happened more often than not, that we had to be in the office during our holidays, because of some emergency or deadline. Once I was out fishing, and I didn't have network coverage. I had a beautiful day, caught a big carp. On Monday, I realized that most of my colleagues were working through the weekend. Since I was unreachable, it didn't have any repercussions. Since then more and more people turned off their company phones on holidays, and they put Gone Fishin' as a Slack status even tho they never ever held a fishing rod in their hands. This was a silent resistance. By the time the winter came, the culture of working on weekends just died off in our company.
In a way, yes. But not in a traditional way: Gone Fishin' is a meme-coin. In our opinion the utility of the meme-coin is to build a community of like-minded people.
